Georgia Legion College (GLC) – Nov 2025
TO: All Members of the American Legion Department of Georgia that may be concerned
The Department of Georgia is officially announcing the 2025 dates and details for the Georgia Legion College (GLC) as approved by the Department Commander.
The GLC course dates are November 13th – 16th, 2025, Thursday – Sunday in Warner Robins, Ga.
The Georgia Legion College curriculum is designed to enhance knowledge and appreciation of The American Legion, while teaching the core values and contributions of the organization. It prepares Legionnaires to take on more responsibility.
Almost all the past Legion College graduates have gone on to become leaders at all levels in the Department and even at the National level. Selection and attendance are an honor within the American Legion.
Warner Robins Post 594, 1523 Moody Street, Warner Robins, GA 30106, has graciously offered to host the GLC training in their Post. They will also work with the GLC to provide lunch on Friday and Saturday. (Thank you, Post 594!)
Each District Commander shall select two (2) individuals to attend the college. You may also nominate an alternate. Should another District not be able to fill its authorized slots, an alternate from another District may be selected.
There is a $100 Registration Fee for each attendee. Checks must be made payable to “The Department of Georgia”. The fee may be paid by the attendee, their Post, or their District. Checks should be mailed to the Dean at: 3950 Glenhurst Drive, SE, Smyrna, GA 30080-5896
District Commanders must select Legionnaires (including Alternates) who meet the following qualifications:
(1) Has completed the online American Legion Basic Training Course and has obtained a Certificate of Completion. Course completion should be no later than the date their name is submitted. Send a copy of the Completion Certificate with the Registration Fee check.
(2) Has leadership abilities, is a go-getter, and has the desire to serve and move up at the Post, District, or Department level.
(3) Has made a commitment to the District Commander to be involved in The American Legion for some time to come.
(4) Has a valid 2025 Membership card.
Submit the names of those you have selected to the College Dean as soon as selected, but no later than Friday, October 24, 2025. When submitting, please include their phone number, email address, and shirt size.
Lodging will be at the Wingate By Wyndham Hotel, 4031 Watson Boulevard, Warner Robins, GA 31093. Hotel rooms for participants are provided by the Department at no cost to attendees. Attendees (or the District Commander) must contact the GLC Dean to reserve their room. The hotel has blocked rooms for us with 2 Queen beds or 1 King bed. Please specify your choice when you notify the Dean. Rooms are normally single occupancy unless attendees wish to share a room. In that case, please let the Dean know that fact. The hotel provides a free hot breakfast each morning. Attendees are encouraged to take advantage of this before class.
Check-in should be made on Thursday afternoon by 1500. There will be an opening meeting and an informal meet and greet in the hotel late Thursday afternoon. Further instructions for the weekend will be provided there.
Travel expenses to and from Warner Robins are the responsibility of the attendees. (Posts and / or Districts may authorize reimbursement should they choose to do so.)
The GLC will begin Friday morning, November 14, 2025. Classes for the day will conclude in the late afternoon.
Warner Robins Post 172 is planning a “Steak Night” dinner on Friday for us. (Thank you Post 172!) Let’s plan on enjoying a great dinner meal and camaraderie together with a local Post. The cost per GLC attendee will only be $10, with the GLC paying the additional cost directly to the Post for the meal.
The GLC will resume on Saturday morning, September 16, with classes all day. Dinner on Saturday is (at this time) on your own.
Final classes will take place on Sunday morning, November 16, 2025. Graduation will take place before Noon.
The dress for the college is Legion Casual (Legion Polo and slacks). Attendees are encouraged to bring a light jacket or sweater for cool or inclement weather.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Chancellor of the College, Department Adjutant Jim Fultz, or myself. Fultz’s phone number is: 470-707-8469. His email address is: jimfultz@georgialegion.org
